We are very pleased that internationally renowned musicians Filippo Gambetta and Carmelo Russo will be coming to perform at ISG tomorrow morning. Maestri Gambetta and Russo will perform pieces mostly out of Filippo Gambetta’s latest album “Otto Baffi” winner of the Citta’ di Loano 1st price for best folk music album, they will talk to the students about their instruments (diatonic accordion and classical guitar) and different types of folk dances,  and answer questions that the students might have. We will finish with a group dance of ” Agata” which is the students’ favorite song.
The idea of inviting Filippo Gambetta to our school came last year when in 2nd grade we sang the song Never Polka with a Porcupine which mentions many different types of folk  dances. In order to better explain the dances to the students I used examples from the album Otto Baffi and the students  enjoyed the music so much that they insisted I should list Filippo Gambetta among the best composers of all time together with Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.
